(The Great Gatsby) Can Gatsby be considered evil?

I suppose Tom is the great antagonist in the story. Gatsby's source of wealth may not be considered immoral or evil today, (though they were back then). Also his varying relationship with Daisy may have made him more of the conflicted protagonist and hero (other than the narrator).
