Fast or medium paced TV shows with long story arcs?

The Vampire diaries is fastest story arcs I seen you just have to get over season 1 but seeing your list I doubt your interest in the vampire genre I know what your thinking this **** sounds like twilight it's not but it has that damn soap stuff and love triangle **** but the story they add so much in season 2 and rush the hell out of it anyway just giving my 2 cents out there.
