How long should it take for my puppy to gain some weight and fill out a little more?

well i have a puppy who is about 8 weeks old now and i've had him for about two weeks now and i've noticed his ribs are showing and he's been eating well but i was wondering how long till he looks healthier... other than that he seems pretty happy
